Fracture effect on the hydro-mechanical behaviour of Callovo-Oxfordian claystone

چکیده
Excavation of the galleries for geological disposal radioactive waste can induce an excavation damaged zone (EDZ), which have consequences on long-term safety repository. In this study, intact Callovo-Oxfordian (COx) claystone taken from Meuse/Haute-Marne Underground Research Laboratory in France was artificially fractured different directions, and hydro-mechanical behaviour investigated by performing high pressure oedometer test hydraulic conductivity test. Comparison between COx samples allows identification effects fracture terms swelling, compression, creep. It appears that presence decreases swelling strain phenomenon depends infiltration path orientation fracture. particular, affects global rate claystone. The self-sealing is mainly attributed to grains zone. Lower compression coefficient a, higher index Cc* secondary consolidation C? are observed claystone, indicating a compressibility creep than one. behaviours depend both stress level. conductivities indicates be partially recovered due collapse macro-pores filled This also confirmed analysing evolution coefficients cv with stress. Beyond level about 16 MPa, effect neglected, but increases further grain breakage. Interestingly, close in-situ before excavation.

Oedometric compression and swelling behaviour of the Callovo-Oxfordian argillite
The Callovo-Oxfordian (COx) argillite is a possible host rock for radioactive waste disposal in which the ANDRA underground laboratory of Bure (East of France) has been excavated. In this paper some aspects of the volume change behaviour of the COx argillite are investigated. To do so, high pressure oedometers with a maximum capacity of 113 MPa have been used. In a first stage, swelling tests w...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

W W W .R U B .D E /S F B 8 3 7 The application of electrical energy during Electrokinetic Treatment (EKT) on soils has been well experimented in order to either consolidate (by dewatering) or decontaminate them. Several practical cases in the literature validate the use of this technique to improve the mechanical properties of soft clays in foundations, excavations and other geotechnical works....
